About AUC Methanex PSM Professional Diploma

AUC Methanex PSM Professional Diploma is an academically accredited program by the American University in Cairo’s (AUC) Engineering and Science Services Center (ESS), designed to provide a comprehensive education in Process Safety Management (PSM). The PSM professional diploma is the culmination of a journey that Methanex began in 2018 to embed a strong Process Safety Management (PSM) culture within the Egyptian oil, gas and petrochemical industry. This professional diploma aims to build the capability needed to apply the 24 issued PSM standards and guidelines, aligning with industry best practices and international process safety standards.

Tailored for Engineering and Science BSc holders, the AUC Methanex PSM professional diploma is open to professionals across various industries, including oil, gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and mining. Developed through a three-way collaboration between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Methanex Egypt, and AUC’s ESS, this professional diploma is available to candidates from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources as well as applicants from Egypt and worldwide. The program aims to promote a strong Process Safety culture, enhance personnel capabilities, build technical competence across the Egyptian oil, gas, and petrochemical sector, and expand organizational knowledge.

Diploma Overview and Structure

The professional diploma is structured around the 24 Process Safety standards and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources under the MoU signed with Methanex Egypt in 2020. It also integrates global best practices, including the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) 20 elements of a PSM program, ensuring graduates are prepared to meet national and international safety standards.

This program enables participants to execute safe project design and operate safer production facilities from cradle to grave.
