The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the PSM Steering Committee have defined the PSM 20 elements of the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) as the agreed program for implementation as per the signed MoU. That is the program agreed to be implemented and currently being used as a baseline that EGPC is using to audit existing facilities.

The Safety Case will have to be reviewed and accepted by the regulator – EGPC as defined in the Safety Case Guideline (under development).

Safety systems technology is part of the safety assessments required to demonstrate that a facility is safe to operate and have to be reflected in each facility safety case. The facility can use multiple data systems to maintain its operations such electronic permit to work, risk-based inspection for asset integrity, computerized maintenance management system (Maximo), and HSE reporting system.

Digitalization is at the heart of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources modernization program. It is already in use for example in implementing electronic permit to work systems, PSM Fire and Gas modelling and consequence modelling to determine the extent of the gas clouds heat radiation & flame lengths.
